Luxury Warwickshire hotel backs youth development with graduate training programme

Mallory Court Hotel in Leamington Spa has joined ranks with other nine other prestigious hotels in the UK including Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons to create an exceptional industry led training program designed to inspire young people and create leaders in hospitality.

The success of the recently televised ‘Michel Roux’s Service’ has opened the eyes of the younger generation to the benefits of a career at four and five star properties in the hospitality industry and this new initiative will create similar opportunities.

In an industry often criticised for not doing more to encourage young people to follow a career in hospitality, Mallory Court and her colleagues are setting an example and taking a determined step forward to promote the very positive opportunities available.

Ten candidates will be offered the opportunity to learn from some of the most well respected professionals in the business. The successful applicants will complete a two year training program, spending 5 month periods at a selection of the prestigious properties completing various modules including Kitchen, HR, Sales and Marketing and Reservations. During the initial training period there will also be ten training days covering essential skills such as Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and Grievance and Disciplinary procedures.

Upon the successful completion of the training program there will be a further opportunity to take up a 6 month placement at one of the properties fulfilling a Duty Manager or Host Manager role and the full training period is offered as a paid placement. This is a tremendous chance to enter the industry at the highest level.

Mark Chambers, Managing Director of Eden Hotel Collection to which Mallory Court belongs, commented,

‘It is a constant battle to find excellent people and this is a problem experienced by our associate hotels in the ‘Ten out of Ten’ group. We are intent on investing in the future of our industry and are pleased to be encouraging development through application. We are very excited indeed about being involved in this venture’.

The program is due to commence in September 2011 and applicants are invited from those aged 18 years and above who have a years experience within a 4 or 5 star property or are recent graduates with a years industry experience.
