Macmillan celebrates record-breaking year with Mallory chef

10 May 10

Hard-working Macmillan staff celebrated cooking up a bumper batch of donations at a special master class with Mallory Court’s Michelin-starred chef.

The seven-strong team from the Coventry, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire branch of the cancer support charity visited the Leamington Spa hotel as a reward for smashing their fundraising target for 2009.

They spent the day learning the secrets of award-winning cookery from head chef Simon Haigh before dining in the renowned Harbury Lane restaurant. Mallory laid on the exclusive event as part of its ongoing support of Macmillan.

Fundraising manager Bernadette Halton said the team was delighted to have exceeded its million pound target by over £140,000, especially in the light of the economic downturn.

She said: “We are one of the few teams in the country to have such a good year and I wanted to reward them with a really special day. Thanks to everybody in Coventry and Warwickshire for their support and generosity, and thanks to Mallory for making us feel so special.”
