The RSC re-opened the transformed Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres in November 2010. The building is open from 9am daily (10am on Sunday) and you are invited to explore their new home at your leisure. As well as the new 1,000 seat thrust stage auditorium, the RSC offer fantastic views of Shakespeare’s home town from the Tower, regular Theatre Tours throughout the day, a changing programme of free exhibitions and a range of places to eat and drink, including the Rooftop Restaurant and Riverside Café and terrace.
The RSC celebrate its 50th birthday in 2011 with new companies and a new season from April 2011.
Theatre Tours and Tower
Guided Theatre Tours last approximately an hour and run every two hours from 9.15am (Monday to Saturday) and from 10.15am (Sunday and Bank Holidays). Please note that as the RSC is a busy producing theatre company, the auditoria will not always be available as part of a tour.
Rising above the River Avon, the Tower offers an iconic anchor for the theatres while providing fantastic views of Shakespeare's home town. A lift will take you to the viewing platform and, as you descend via the stairs, you will discover an exhibition installed on the walls and in the alcoves. The Tower is open from 9am (Monday to Saturday) and from 10am (Sunday and Bank Holidays).
