On Arrival

When you arrive at Bovey Castle please pull up outside the front of the hotel and a porter will come and welcome you. For directions to Bovey Castle, please visit https://www.mallory.co.uk/about/location/.

We offer check in from 4pm. We request that you arrive at this time or later. You will need to register with your details at Reception (as if you were checking in to a hotel).

You are able to unload outside your lodge, but we request cars are left in the designated lodge car park which is just a short walk from your lodge.  This keeps the traffic to a minimum around the lodges and to ensures access for emergency vehicles.

Should you wish to open an account during your stay, we will record your credit card details on arrival and then any extras can be charged to your lodge and paid for on departure with Reception.

Accommodation

Each of our lodges is equipped with the following items as standard:

  • Dishwasher
  • Fridge and freezer
  • Toaster and kettle
  • Nespresso machine
  • Oven, hob and microwave
  • All crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking & serving equipment
  • Utility room with washing machine and tumble drier
  • Iron and ironing board
  • TV with limited Freesat and Google Chromecast in the living room
  • Wifi speaker
  • DVD player in the living room
  • Complimentary WiFi throughout the lodge
  • Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, and milk

We provide amenities to get you started during your stay, but please bring extra items such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent and toilet rolls.

Bed linen, bath and hand towels are supplied in each lodge, along with slippers and robes. (Swimming pool towels are available in the pool changing rooms).
Tea towels, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, bin bags and toilet rolls are also provided for your convenience, but please bring extra with you.  Each lodge has a gas fire in the lounge and central heating throughout.

Each individual bedroom has two Temple Spa shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soap. We advise guests to bring all other required toiletries with them.

All bedrooms will be set-up as double rooms as standard. If twin beds are required in any of the bedrooms, please advise a member of our reservations team prior to arrival and we will ensure this is arranged.

Yes, please separate food to be recycled into the caddy and place bottles next to the main bin.

We are able to set up your lodge for children by providing cots for babies with bed linen, highchairs in the dining area and stair gates. Extra beds can also be provided for children (up to 14yrs, and a maximum of 2 beds). Please let the Reservations team know prior to arrival if you require any of the above equipment in your lodge.

Your lodge will not be serviced during your stay unless you are staying over 7 days.

Please leave your rubbish bags outside your lodge by 11am each day for collection.

All of the lodges have steps into them and are not very disabled-friendly for people with walking difficulties or in a wheelchair.

Yes, up to 2 dogs are allowed to stay in the lodge – we can provide bowls, bedding and dog crates if required. Please let the Reservations team know prior to arrival if you are bringing your dog/s with you.

You will have access to all of the facilities that the Resort has to offer, subject to opening times. For more information, please visit www.mallory.co.uk.

Whilst we do not charge a deposit, any breakages will be charged to your bill – please inform Reception.

We request that there are no more than 8 people on the balcony of the lodge at any one time.

Transportation

Buggies may be hired for £37.50 per day, subject to availability. Please request with the Reservations team prior to arrival.

We do have a limited number of bikes available for hire and use around the estate. Please feel free to bring your own with you.

Dining

A welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, and milk will be supplied for your arrival.  You can purchase a basic grocery pack from the hotel with 48 hours notice, which will be in your lodge on arrival.

There is no convenience store on site, but basic grocery packs are available to purchase prior to arrival. The local village of Moretonhampstead has a well-stocked Co-op, butcher, baker, greengrocer and newsagent. Please contact Reception who will be able to provide directions.

Yes, most of the main supermarkets will deliver. Please ensure that your order includes your name and that they are directed to the main hotel reception. If you place your order for the day of your arrival, please ensure it is delivered after your arrival from 4pm as we are unable to deal with these items.  Any deliveries arriving before 4pm will be refused.  Please advise the Reservations team if you are having a delivery.

Yes.  We offer continental and English breakfast packs which can be pre-ordered for your arrival and during your stay. 

Yes, but we request that you book a table for this in advance.

  • Smith’s Brasserie: Open from 9.30am each day until 6.30pm (last orders for dinner, except Monday and Tuesday evenings when last orders are 9.30pm). 
  • The Great Western Grill: Open for dinner Wednesday – Sunday evenings, 6.30pm until last orders at 9.30pm. (Children must be 5 or over to dine in the Great Western Grill and the dress code is smart/casual)
  • Sunday lunch: Available 12.30pm until 2.30pm and afternoon tea is available each day.

Yes, you can order a grocery pack for arrival, and breakfast and dinner can be delivered to your lodge. Some dining options require 24hrs notice.  Should you wish to have dinner delivered for you day of arrival, please pre-order it in advance. 

Yes, gas barbecues are available in all lodges during the summer months. We supply the gas for these, but request that you clean the barbecue after use.

Yes – drinks packs are available to order prior to your arrival and during your stay.  Please see below for our drinks menus. 

No – takeaway vehicles are not permitted on site.

We are currently unable to offer this service.

Activities

All facilities will be available to you during your stay. We do advise advance bookings to avoid disappointment.

Yes, our swimming pool, leisure facilities and spa are open.  Family swimming is available between 9am and 5pm.  Children are not permitted in the pool after 5pm and have to be aged 16 years to use the gym facilities.

We offer children, adult and family sessions for most of our activities.  Please see our extensive list below or contact our resort team on 01647 445022.

Unfortunately no.  The KidsZone (children aged up to 8 years accompanied by an adult) and TechZone (children aged 8-16 years) are available each day – please contact the Resort team to book this.

We have a limited supply of staff who babysit and meet the usual CRB standards.  Please contact our reception team if you wish to book them. 

Alternatively, we work with Tinies nanny agency, based in Plymouth.  Please contact them should your require babysitting.
