28.11.19

Are you looking for things to do in Warwickshire this winter? Our wonderful county has an abundance of sights, activities and places to visit at any time of the year. To help you plan your winter escape, we’re sharing our favourite things to do in Warwickshire. What will you choose?

Warwick Castle

No visit to Warwickshire is complete without a visit to Warwick Castle. Filled with medieval wonders and showcasing over a thousand years of history, there’s so many attractions for the whole family to enjoy including re-enactments of great battles, ancient myths and tales retold. There’s also amazing sights such as the Mighty Trebuchet, the Princess Tower, the Great Hall and State Rooms and let’s not forget the Castle Dungeon – do you dare enter?

Kenilworth Castle

Kenilworth Castle is another great place to visit with the family. There’s plenty to see and do including tower views, a walk around the Elizabethan Garden, touring the castle with its family friendly displays, a stop at the tearoom and so much more. Kenilworth Castle also hosts many fun events such as their annual Bonfire extravaganza, which has been placed as one of the top five displays in the UK by Visit England.

The British Motor Museum

You don’t have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy a tour of the British Motor Museum. With over 300 classic cars on display, as well as fun events such as Mini Motorists (special under 5 activity mornings), and classic car workshops for classic car owners to develop their maintenance and restoration skills, there’s something for everyone.

Jephson Gardens

Enjoy a crisp winter’s walk in Jephson’s Gardens, which is close to Leamington Spa’s town centre Parade. With lots of trails that lead you past pretty flowerbeds, sculptures and an elegant pond, it’s a great place to stretch your legs after a few hours shopping in Leamington. You’ll also discover the Jephson Glasshouse, which is filled with tropical trees and plants, a cafe and also a sensory garden.

The Royal Shakespeare Company

If you love romance, drama and a gripping tale, a visit to the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Swan Theatre is a must in Stratford-upon-Avon. Enjoy plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries at any time of the year.

MAD Museum

For a museum visit with a difference, discover MAD Museum, situated in Stratford-upon-Avon’s town centre. A fun, quirky place, there’s lots of displays of mechanical art and design from all over the world including machines and devices used in films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Scrapheap Challenge and Wallace and Gromit.

Compton Verney

This art gallery and park is a very unique and interesting place to visit as you can not only enjoy 120 acres of stunning parkland and lake, there’s also an award-winning art gallery, café for all the family to enjoy, an outdoor adventure playground and a gift shop. There’s lots of events and activities throughout the year too such as visiting exhibitions, tours, talks and workshops, fairs, forest school for kids and a drop-in with play area for parents with children under 5.
